How to locate a particular book

To locate a particular book in the Library you should use the Library Online catalogue.

Steps to follow:

1. Choose the Search option from the top menu to go to the Book Search Screen.

§ If you are familiar with the Author's Surname or first word of the Title, enter this data in the appropriate box. This is often the quickest method to locate a particular book.

§ If you only know the Title, enter the exact title words in the title box.

§ If you wish to search for books under a specific Subject go to How to find books on a particular subject for advice.

2. Look through the list of titles that displays on the Search Results Screen and click on the title to take you to the Holdings Screen of the book you are looking for. The Holdings Screen displays the full bibliographic details of the book, including the classification number and the location to help you find where the book is shelved.

3. If you do not find the book on the online catalogue try the printed catalogues, or ask the library staff for help.
