Library users' charter
The Library
Users' Charter describes
the rights and responsibilities that the users of
CITY
College
Library have. It is intended to help users make the best use of library
services and facilities.
The Library will:
- Acquire
books, journals and electronic information resources to support the
learning, teaching and research procedures of the College.
- Provide
up-to-date guides for library services, facilities and regulations.
- Provide
computing facilities to enable library users to access electronic
information resources.
- Provide
an enquiry service to library users for information, help and advice
on all aspects of Library services and facilities.
- Provide
a suitable environment for study.
- Offer
tutorials showing library users how to search for information.
- Treat
all library users equally with courtesy and respect.
- Provide
support to library users who have additional needs.
The Library users must:
- Treat
all Library materials and resources with care, and not cause any
damage to walls, furniture, equipment, etc.
- Consult
library staff if they are not sure where to find information or how to
use equipment.
- Use
computing facilities appropriately and comply with all regulations.
- Avoid
causing inconvenience to other library users by returning material on
time.
- Not
lend a library card to any other person, and present a valid card in
order to borrow. If the library card is lost, the Library Issue desk
must be notified immediately.
- Return
items which have been consulted to their correct place on the shelves.
- Not
remove any items from the Library premises which have not been issued
to them.
- Use
designated group study rooms when they need to discuss their work.
- Treat
all staff and other library users with courtesy and respect.
- Keep
their mobile phones switched off in the Library.
- Not
smoke in the Library.
- Be
familiar and comply with the Library’s rules and regulations,
including copyright laws.
Non Compliance with Conduct Policy
- The Librarians have the authority
to determine whether a user’s behavior is improper, and if this
behavior inconveniences other Library users, or causes damage in the
Library. In such case users may be excluded from the Library premises
for the remainder of that day or are obliged to make good of any
damage caused.
- Users leaving the Library premises
may be subject to inspection of any library materials in their
possession and any bags capable of containing library materials.
