Borrowing Entitlement
When becoming a member of the Library, you
will be issued with a Library Card and given an "Information Package"
that explains in detail all borrowing regulations. Guides with all available services and
facilities are also included in that package. If, for
any reason, you do not hold such a package you may request a copy from the
Information Services Desk.

Types of loan
The majority of books in the library
are available for standard loan, but special rules apply for books that are
course reserves or on heavy demand. When searching, the online catalogue
indicates the loan category of each book.

How to borrow
§ You should take the
items you
wish to borrow, together with your library card, to the Library Issue Desk.
§ The
items will be issued to you
and the date they are due for return will be stamped on the back of the
item and on the library
card.
If
an item you request is not on
loan and still you cannot find it on the shelves, ask to fill in a missing
item card available at the Issue Desk.

Library Cards
The following rules apply concerning the
cards issued by the Library:
§ You must
always have your library card with you when borrowing, returning or renewing
material.
§ Lost or
stolen cards, should be reported to the staff of the Library Issue Desk to
avoid unauthorised use. A replacement card
will be issued within two working days.
§ Library
cards are strictly for personal use.

Reserving
Items
To reserve items first check the
library catalogue to see if the item you request is part of the
library collection.
How to reserve
You can place a reservation:
§ in
person by filling in a Reservation form.
§ or
by using
the telephone (+3231 0224521) or e-mail reservation service.
Collecting the reserved items
We shall check the due date of
the item and inform you to collect it from the Issue
Desk as soon as, it is returned. You are given three days to collect the
reserved item before it is put back on the shelves or passed on to the next person
who claiming it. In case there is a waiting list and the library holds only one copy of a book,
then it will be issued to you for a week and you will not be able to
renew it.
Normally, you will be notified to colllect a reserved item
in three weeks, the latest. However
it could take much longer if:
§ You
have not filled in the details on the reservation card correctly
§ There
is a change in your contact details
§ The
person who has the book does not return it promptly
§ You are in a queue because other people have reserved the same
book
§ The
book has been issued for the duration of the summer vacation
If you have heard nothing from us after
three weeks, please contact the Library
Issue Desk.
If you no longer need an item which you have
reserved, please let us know so that we can cancel your reservation.

Returning
Items
§ Books and other items
that you have borrowed should be returned to a member of staff at the
Issue Desk during working hours. You need to produce your library card when
returning items.
§ Items
can be returned by post
and should be accompanied by a note with your personal details.
§ Fines are charged for
overdue items.

Renewals
§ You can renew books and other
borrowed items by approaching the Library Issue Desk and producing your library
card.
§ Alternatively you can renew a
book you have on loan by using the telephone (+3231 0224521) or by e-mail (library@city.academic.gr)
renewal service.
If a book has been reserved by another user or
if you have outstanding fines you will not be
able to renew it.

Overdue
Items
§ Please remember to bring back
borrowed items promptly as others may be waiting to use them. All
users are charged with fines for the late return of items.
§ Anyone who has
outstanding fines is
not permitted to borrow or use the computing and interlibrary loan
services.
§ Overdue notices are sent out
by e-mail.

Lost
Items
If you lose an item while you have
it on loan you must pay the replacement cost. If an item is subsequently
found and returned, the replacement cost is refunded.
