Download here the interlibrary loan order form The mission of the City College Interlibrary Loan Service, as stated in it's policy, is to encourage the dissemination of knowledge through sharing resources at a national and international level, in order to provide users with the information they need for educational or research purposes.
What is InterLibrary Loan Service (ILS) The ILS offers the possibility to students, researchers and academics, to obtain material, which is not part of the library collection, such as: articles, extracts of books, reports and conference proceedings. The City library Interlibrary Loan Service is available through the following: a. The National Documentation Centre (NDC) As a member of the National Documentation Centre (NDC), City Library plays a significant role in the general Interlibrary Loan System. Membership to NDC, provides access to "SERI", a national database that includes the Journal Collections of 225 Academic and Scientific Libraries in Greece. The number of journal titles included is 27.500. Web access allows the online ordering of material. Material is received either by post, fax or e-mail. b. The British Library Overseas orders are usually sent to the British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC). In the case of requests for journal articles BLDSC will normally send us a photocopy of the article, which will be forwarded to the applicant, as soon as it arrives.
It is essential to first check the Library Collections Web pages to confirm that the item you require is not available in printed or electronic format at the Library. Once you have confirmed that the item is not held by the Library, you may then contact the Information Services Desk. The staff of the Information Services Desk, amongst others, have to deal with requests made by library members and to process the great number of requests for photocopies received daily from libraries elsewhere. Filling in the form Please give the fullest possible details of your request and write clearly. If you omit essential information, your request may be delayed or fail altogether. The Information Services staff need the following information: For journal articles: For other material:
If this is possible, you should include the source of reference, as well, i.e. details of the book, bibliography or journal article where you took the information. If you need help with this, ask the library staff. When the item arrives Web access allows the online order of the requested material. Photocopies of the material will be received by mail within 5 - 20 days. When the electronic format of the requested material is available, it can be obtained within two working days. The cost varies, depending on the number of pages and whether it is acquired from a national of international library. The users can either pick up the photocopied material from the Information Services Desk, or may request the material to be sent to them by fax or post. Urgent Request Service An Urgent Request Service is available for items that are needed quickly. This service has an additional cost of 3 Euro per item. To ensure a response on the same day as to whether an item is available or not, users need to contact the Information Services Desk early in the morning. Items can either be faxed or delivered. Faxed items are usually sent within 4 hours after submission of our application to the National Documentation Centre and by first class post where delivery is required. Limitations
The purpose of this service is to speed up delivery and help avoid postage charges, since articles are sent electronically, as e-mail attachments by using Adobe Acrobat's PDF format. As a result, these articles may be viewed from any computer that is connected to the Internet using Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have version 4.05 of Acrobat Reader, be sure to visit the Adobe website and obtain a copy appropriate for your operating environment.
