ScopeThe conference is wide in scope, taking papers from across the range of economics and political economy, including contributions from political science, sociology, and peace and security studies. A strength of the conference has been the quality of policy debate that has taken place. The papers presented at the conferences have led to a number of edited books, including the influential Arming the South: The Economics of Military Expenditures, Arms Production and Trade in Developing Countries, Palgrave, edited by Jurgen Brauer and J Paul Dunne, and special issues of Defence and Peace Economics. Many top researchers present their work at the conference to get comments and suggestions before submitting it to the journals and the conference also provides a supportive environment for those new to research. Contributions are also made available on the conference website to allow wide dissemination. We know that it provides valuable resource for researchers in the developing world. |
