- What is an internship?
During the summer holidays, a large number of 2nd and 3rd grade CITY students take internships with companies in Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and FYROM. A widespread practice in every large educational institution in Europe and the USA is slowly but steadily starting to be adopted in Greece.

But what exactly is an internship and why should companies consider it seriously?

For companies, internships are an opportunity to get many small, not-urgent projects done. Every company has plenty of them to undertake; however, there is sometimes neither enough time nor human resources. Internships may provide an excellent opportunity for students to provide considerable help. Companies benefit from the educational background and analytical skills of students while students test the waters in a variety of career fields and gain "real-life" experience, thus providing a way to decide on - or opt out - of a certain vocation.

Internships can be paid or unpaid. However, every prospective intern should keep in mind that the pay-off is not reflected in the compensation but in the valuable experience gained by working in a professional environment.
