Dissertation Subjects of dissertations can cover the entire spectrum of Banking and Finance. As an example of what can be successfully covered, here is a short list of past subjects: "Mergers and Acquisition in the greek banking sector" "Identification and Consideration of Investment Opportunities in the Stock Exchange Market: The Case of FYROM" "The Behaviour of Security Returns Around Earnings Announcements" "The Endogeneity of Money Supply: Empirical Evidence from Australia and Thailand" "Mutual Funds: Theory and Practice" The dissertation is realised in collaboration with a personal supervisor and gives the student the opportunity to research in depth a subject of his/her interest. The research may be conducted in a "real life" environment, allowing for the immediate interconnection of theory and practice. Employment opportunities Students who successfully complete the programme can typically expect to gain employment or advance their career in a wide range of areas. Recent graduates have found employment in both financial institutions and banks, such as ALPHA BANK, ETEBA, Nationale Nederlanden, EUROBANK, Golden Invest, CITIBANK, Euroconsultants, World Bank, Stopanska, Raiffeisen and other banks and financial institutions across South - East Europe. Full time study The full time MSc in Banking and Finance is completed in one year and divided in two parts: one taught part (nine months) and one research part (three months). Semester 1: October - January Semester 2: February - June Dissertation: July - September Part time study The MSc in Banking and Finance is also offered part-time, over a period of two years. Lectures are usually held twice a week during evening hours. Degree Title Successful graduates are awarded the postgraduate degree of the University of Sheffield: Master of Science in Banking and Finance. The title is awarded directly by the University of Sheffield.
